Check out the more than 30 art pieces created by University of Toledo art students on display at the UT Center for Visual Arts Gallery through March 22.
An opening reception and awards ceremony for the multimedia show will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The 2018 Juried Student Exhibition is an annual competition for the school. It is being juried by artist Alli Hoag, who heads the glass program at Bowling Green State University.

■ Moving on to secondary education, the ninth annual Perrysburg High School Historic Perrysburg Art Exhibit opens Friday at Way Library gallery, 101 E. Indiana Ave., and will be on display through April 20.
The show features more than 50 pieces by Perrysburg High School students who created artworks inspired by the architectural history of the area that they were required to research as part of the project. Multiple media, including pencil drawing, acrylic, and watercolor, are presented in the show.

■ Local artist Paul Geiger is hosting a drawing-for-beginners class that will run for six consecutive Mondays starting March 26.
Geiger describes the course as one that explores “the perceptual and mechanical skills needed to accurately draw what you see,” and recommends the class for both those who have drawn before but need some remediation, and for those who have never drawn.
The course is $150, $125 for college students, and $100 for high school students and will be held at 210 Elm St.

■ The HeART Gallery at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in downtown Toledo has a storytelling exhibition this weekend of shoes worn by “everyday Toledo folks.”
Journey in Their Shoes is a collection of shoes loaned from residents and accompanied by stories that describe each person’s journey. The show also includes a collection of black-and-white photographs by photographer James Dickerson.
It opens today with a lunch from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., which includes a chance to meet Dickerson. Reservations are requested. The Sips and Dips show will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be a brunch at 11 a.m. Sunday for gallery volunteers and those interested in learning about its summer events.

■ Organizers of downtown Adrian’s Artalicious juried art show are issuing a call for artists.
Interested artists working in any medium can apply starting April 2 through ZAPPlication.org. The application process will run through June 1. The art fair will be on Sept. 21 and 22.
Artalicious is a nonprofit organization under the Lenawee Community Foundation and is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.

■ The Hayes Presidential Library and Museums is hosting a talk and reception with the two artists behind the library’s exhibition, Bhutanese-Nepali Neighbors: Photographs by Tariq Tarey.
The event will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the museum, located at Spiegel Grove off Hayes Avenue in Fremont.
The exhibition includes 30 photographs taken by Tariq Tarey that chronicle members of the Bhutanese-Nepali community, one of the largest current-day refugee camps in Ohio. The other artist, Doug Rutledge, created narratives for each of the photographs.
