FREMONT — A Sandusky County auto parts manufacturer is expanding its operation to add 25 new jobs and more than $2 million in capital investment.
ABC Inoac announced plans Tuesday to add 28,000-square feet to the Fremont facility with a project that could cost up to $2.4 million. In addition to the new jobs, 441 existing full-time jobs and six part-time jobs will be retained over the next 10 years. The additional payroll is estimated at more than $1 million annually.
The move will allow the plant to start making new parts.
“The expansion is one of many pieces that must come together to successfully launch a major [original equipment] automotive spoiler project,” plant manager Bruce Boyce said. “I want to thank our employees for their contribution as well. What makes the spoiler project possible is the day-to-day dedication and hard work our team is known for.”
A Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation spokesman said the plant was awarded a project for 350,000 Class A painted spoiler this year. The plant will sell the parts to General Motors.
The extra space will accommodate two new injection mold machines, painting, welding, assembly, and storage of the units.
ABC Inoac worked with SCEDC to advance the project. The county commissioners passed a resolution April 5 to establish an ‘enterprise zone’ to help facilitate the project. The enterprise zone is designed to create new jobs and retain employees by utilizing real and personal property tax abatement incentives.
County Commissioner Charles Schwochow said the expansion is a welcomed development.
“When a company has the drive and willingness to grow, it brings more jobs and enthusiasm to our community.”
