BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green State University football team claimed a 42-7 victory over Kent State at Doyt Perry Stadium tonight.
The Falcons won their second game in a row, improving to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in Mid-American Conference play.
Kent State also is 3-8 (2-5 MAC).
Bowling Green, which led 28-7 after three quarters, saw Donovan Wilson score on a four-yard run with 10:38 left in the final period. Then James Morgan threw a 19-yard scoring strike to Deric Phouthavong with 2:29 remaining to close the scoring.
THIRD QUARTER

The Falcons, who led 21-7 at halftime, got the only touchdown of the third period when Josh Cleveland scored on an 85-yard run with 7:26 left in the quarter.
Meanwhile the BG defense has allowed just 149 yards of total offense to Kent State, including just 22 yards rushing.

HALFTIME

The Falcons, leading 7-0 after the first period, used a 16-play, 89-yard drive that was capped by a three-yard TD pass from James Morgan to Hunter Folkertsma with 8:40 left in the quarter.
The second drive spanned 60 yards on nine plays, and Fred Coppet scored on a 13-yard run with 3:14 to play.
Kent State got on the board when Whitmer High School product Nick Holley threw a 56-yard scoring strike to Ernest Calhoun with just 2:07 left before halftime.

The Falcons lone touchdown came at the end of a 16-play, 89-yard drive that saw Donovan Wilson score on a 3-yard run with 2:25 left in the quarter.
The BG defense allowed the Golden Flashes to muster just 37 yards on 14 plays in the first quarter.
