Monroe Street reopened after fire at vacant structure

A fire burned a vacant structure on Monroe Street, forcing emergency responders to close the area to traffic for about 2 hours. 

The fire started at about 4:30 p.m. Emergency crews shut down Monroe Street between Cardinal Street and Auburn Avenue as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

The street reopened at about 6:30 p.m., according to dispatchers.
