BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green State University football has indefinitely suspended freshman Cederick “CJ” Pickrom after an incident at a BG bar.
The 18-year-old Pickrom, a Houston native, was charged Jan. 18 with assault and underage drinking during the incident at Uptown-Downtown in the early hours of Jan. 16.
According to a Bowling Green police report, Pickrom consumed a shot of an alcoholic beverage, then was preparing to consume another when “an unknown person bumped into him and spilled the second shot.”
The report said Pickrom “became angry and struck a female that was standing nearby.”
The report added the female said she was not injured at the time. Later, the mother of the female Pickrom allegedly struck said the female had a “minor concussion and incurred some medical bills” and also had sustained a black eye.
Pickrom initially was charged with disorderly conduct/fighting as well as underage under the influence of alcohol. Records indicate the disorderly conduct charge was amended to assault.
BG football coach Mike Jinks issued a statement, saying, “We are aware of an incident involving CJ Pickrom. He has been indefinitely suspended from the team and will take part in the University’s student code of conduct process. We do not, and will not, condone this type of behavior in our program.”
Pickrom, a true freshman safety, played in five games for the Falcons in 2016 but did not have any tackles.
