Former University of Toledo football players Logan Woodside and Ola Adeniyi got their moment to shine as the duo finished up workouts this weekend at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Woodside fared well among quarterbacks in his Saturday workout, with the fifth fastest 40-yard dash time (4.79 seconds), the second-best 20-yard shuttle time of 4.15 seconds, the third-best 3-cone drill time at 6.94 seconds, and the third-best vertical jump at 31.5 inches. He also broad jumped 103.0 inches.
“A lot of the QB coaches tell me I have a real shot to play in the National Football League, and that’s all you can ask for,” Woodside told the Dayton Daily News at the combine. “I’m not worried if I’m gonna get drafted or where I get drafted even if I do. I know eventually I’ll get a shot. It’s just up to me to make the most of it.”
Woodside left Toledo as the all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns. He is generally thought of as a late round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft or someone who can sign with a team as an undrafted free agent.
Adeniyi, a defensive end at Toledo who left with one year of eligibility left, ran the 40 in 4.83 seconds. He recorded 26 reps in the bench press, jumped 31.5 inches on his vertical, ran the 3-cone drill in 7.21 seconds, and clocked in at 4.28 seconds for the 20-yard shuttle and 12.79 seconds in the 60-yard shuttle.
Adeniyi is generally thought of as a mid-to-late round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft
“An athletically gifted pass rusher, he left Toledo after a junior season that saw him record 66 tackles, 20 for loss, and a team-high 8.5 sacks,” Ron Clements of Sporting News wrote in his ‘NFL Combine: 10 under-the-radar names to know’ column. “Though undersized at 6-2, 248 pounds, Adeniyi has the athleticism to transition to outside linebacker. The combine will be an opportunity to show he can drop in coverage. If he does that well, he could go from a late-round pick to a Day 2 selection.”
