A shouting match nearly escalated into a physical fight between the estranged husband and stepfather of Angela Steinfurth today outside Toledo Municipal Court.
The parties were in court today as Mrs. Steinfurth, 25, appeared for a preliminary hearing before Judge Amy Berling.
The case was continued to Monday, as requested by the Toledo Police Department through the prosecutor.
Mrs. Steinfurth is charged with one count of child endangering and is being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
Her daughter, Elaina Steinfurth, 18 months old, has been missing since June 2.
The shouting started while Richard Schiewe, Mrs. Steinfurth's stepfather, was speaking to a reporter.
"People are driving by my house shouting, 'Baby killer,' " he said.
Elaina's father, Terry Steinfurth, Jr., 25, was nearby and said, "They're saying bring Elaina home. Get it right."
The shouting continued, with other people becoming involved, threatening to fight and swearing, for about a minute before a man who described himself as a prosecutor walked up and told everyone to settle down.
Mr. Steinfurth, who was with his father and girlfriend, left; Mr. Schiewe went to the Toledo Police Department.
