ANN ARBOR — Csont'e York, a former Michigan football player who is currently enrolled at the University of Toledo, today was sentenced to seven days in jail and two years of probation on two misdemeanor assault charges.
The sentence stems from a July 18 incident in Ann Arbor in which he punched John Lavoie-Mayer and broke his jaw. York was dismissed from the Wolverines in August. York pled guilty last month to two assault charges in Washtenaw County 15th District Court.
York originally faced two counts of assault or assault and battery and one count of aggravated assault.
York must also pay the medical and dental bills of Lavoie-Mayer, and will serve the first four days of his jail sentence immediately. York will serve the final three days of his sentence later this month, beginning Oct. 31.
