Three men charged in the Oct. 8 shooting death of Jewell Miller were indicted today by a Lucas County grand jury.
Antonio Peralez, 19, of the 3500 block of Hilltop Boulevard, was indicted on alternate counts of murder – one alleging he purposely caused the death of Mr. Miller, 23, and the other alleging he proximately caused the death while committing felonious assault. Both charges carry firearm specifications that would add three years to any prison sentence he received if convicted.
Jaermie Spencer, 29, of the 3500 block of Douglas Road, and Adrian Warren, 28, of the 1800 block of Mansfield Street, each were indicted on one count of murder and a firearm specification.
Jeff Lingo, chief of the criminal division for the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office, said investigators believe all three men fired their weapons at Mr. Miller in the 700 block of Bush Street in north Toledo, striking the victim at least three times. He declined to comment on whose bullets struck Mr. Miller or caused the fatal injury.
“They were all shooting, and under the theory of complicity, if they're all working toward the same common scheme, which is to cause the death of the victim, they can all be charged,” Mr. Lingo said.
