WAUSEON — An East Toledo man charged with killing his former girlfriend entered not guilty pleas at his arraignment today in Fulton County Common Pleas Court.
James C. Ramey, 27, of the 300 block of Fassett Street is charged with 22 felony counts, including two counts of aggravated murder that carry death-penalty specifications for the March 14 shooting death of Amanda Mangas, 23, at her home in Delta.
Ramey also is charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated burglary, four counts of abduction, six counts of kidnapping, and one count each of receiving stolen property, aggravated robbery, violating a protection order, and possessing criminal tools.
After shooting Ms. Mangas, authorities said Ramey allegedly abducted their 10-month-old son, Winston, and Ms. Mangas' stepmother, Deborah Mangas, and drove them to Indiana where authorities tracked him by his cell phone and arrested him.
Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Robinson scheduled a March 12, 2018 trial and continued bond at $1 million for Ramey, who is being held in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
