"...as human beings we are capable of making sense of situations based on the thinnest slice of experience."
Malcolm Gladwell, author of Blink and The Tipping Point.
GOODBYE To A SAX MAN: The Dave Matthews Band offered up an inspired farewell to their saxophone player LeRoi Moore, who died Tuesday from complications in an ATV accident. Moore will be missed on songs like "#41" that featured his soulful instrumental work. (RL)
CALL HER THE MATERIAL WOMAN: Madonna turned 50 this weekend with a party that featured her husband and kids, so how wild could it be? Turns out she was up the next day for a workout, so you've got to figure she practiced moderation. Not so for the folks at the United Kingdom's Daily Mail newspaper, who gave the pop queen a rather snarky takedown prior to her big day comparing her in unflattering terms to, ahem, Barbie.
THE BIG GUY: The whole Bigfoot press conference turned out to be a bit of a letdown so let's look back at our favorite Bigfoot parodies and celebrate the man, the fur ball, the legend. The Sarah McLachlan tune made me tear up a little. Blade writer Ryan Smith examined Sasquatch and the Buckeye State connection back in May. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization claims that Ohio is one of the hottest places in the nation for Bigfootin'. Practice your moaning howl if ever tracking in the Columbiana County, Ohio area. SUPER TOLEDO: Perhaps you've noticed the local connection to the CW series Supernatural. Sylvania area native Eric Kripke drives the spooky streets of the Glass City. (KC)
