BGSU trustees compile to-do list to make campus more inviting

BGSU trustees compile to-do list to make campus more inviting

Master plan sets 53 projects that extend through ’20

BOWLING GREEN — Trustees at Bowling Green State University on Friday approved a plan intended to make the campus a more inviting place.

The board approved a long-term landscape and civic structure master plan that outlines some 53 projects to be undertaken through “2020 and beyond” estimated to cost between $17.7 million and $30.5 million.

No funding was approved at the meeting, only a set of guiding principles by which the university will plan and prioritize needs throughout campus. Those principles include keeping the landscape simple and elegant, creating places for people to enjoy, developing outdoor spaces as a learning laboratory, and creating a memorable and beautiful environment.

“Alumni returning to campus for Homecoming this year are already seeing campus improvements under way,” Board chairman Fran Voll said in a news release.

“We look forward to watching the campus become even more beautiful and its spaces more welcoming over the coming years.”

Also Friday, the board approved the appointment of M. Ahmad Chaudhry as chairman of the Department of Public and Allied Health and as a full professor with tenure in that department.

He comes to BGSU from the University of Vermont where he has been an associate professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory and Radiation Services.
