Cherie Mourlam, the interim superintendent of Washington Local Schools, said Wednesday that she plans to retire when her contract expires on July 31.
Ms. Mourlam, 58, was made interim superintendent on Dec. 16, replacing Patrick Hickey, who resigned after two investigations into his conduct by the board.
Ms. Mourlam has been with Washington Local for more than 15 years, first as a special education coordinator, then as director of student services. In 2007, the board promoted her to assistant superintendent under Hickey.
Her salary is $126,685. She will be paid an additional $1,800 a month while she serves as interim superintendent.
In September, the first investigation into Mr. Hickey’s conduct began after board members learned a husband and wife who teach in the district had claimed Mr. Hickey harassed them after an alleged relationship between the former superintendent and the wife ended.
Mr. Hickey ultimately received a letter of reprimand, which among other things told him not to interact with anyone he believes has filed a complaint against him.
Video surveillance in November showed Mr. Hickey taking pictures at night outside the classroom door of the female teacher who had claimed he harassed her.
In December, Mr. Hickey accepted a separation agreement that will pay him more than $200,000 in exchange for leaving the district two years before his contract expires.
Board members said earlier this month that they wanted to give Ms. Mourlam time to consider her future before they decided how they would proceed on finding a permanent replacement for Mr. Hickey.
