The city of Toledo has found it advantageous to deceive and exploit its citizens or those travelling through the city with its use of traffic cameras and should not be proud of it.
There is rarely a posted speed limit sign until after the cameras. I have stated to council members that preceding every camera — at least 100 feet before — should be a speed limit sign.
Secondly, the fines are excessive — at least $120 — and the language on the ticket is very threatening if the ticket is not paid. A ticket should be no more than $60. If one causes an accident while committing a violation, then I am in favor of stiffer fines.
Let’s stop bragging about the revenues being generated by exploiting and deceiving Toledo’s residents.

Government giveth, then taketh away
I just got my notice in the mail about my Social Security increase for 2018. It is a 2 percent raise. It is not much, but every little bit helps.
However, the government is taking all but $3 of it for a Medicare increase.
In 2017, Medicare premiums were $109 a month, and for 2018, they will be $134 a month. So, I will be adding 75 cents a week to my spendable income. If I scrape up a little more, I might be able to buy a cup of coffee at a fast food restaurant.

Why did Moore even have chance?
Alabama’s Senate candidate Roy Moore is a guy who doesn’t take no for an answer.
Americans were glued to Alabama’s special election for the Senate, expecting a crimson tide. Instead, we got a code blue. The loser, Mr. Moore, still refuses to concede to the newly elected Democratic Sen. Doug Jones.
Who in their right mind would support an alleged child molester for the U.S. Senate.
