Here is the text of Ms. Schaber’s letter:

During this entire Christmas season, I can’t remember seeing commercials on TV that featured kids and the toys and games they were hoping to see under the tree.

I’ve seen ads for cars, kitchen appliances, furniture, clothes, perfume, fine jewelry, and countless adult gifts. I can remember watching TV as a kid and dreaming about getting one or two of the toys I saw on TV.

Many people are concerned that Christ has been forgotten as the reason for the season. It seems as though children are being pushed aside as well.

Each week The Blade’s editorial board will pick a “letter of the week,” and the writer will be asked to come to The Blade to be interviewed for our Behind the Readers’ Forum feature, which appears on toledoblade.com and Blade NewsSlide.
