The Marathon Classic donated $543,000 to 19 northwest Ohio children's charities today, a result of the 2016 tournament.
The tournament has now raised $9.8 million for 170 area charities, aiding thousands of children in seven northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan counties.
Each of the 19 charities were represented today at the annual luncheon at Inverness Club. The tournament will break the $10 million barrier next year.
“This kind of sustained effort would not have been possible without the loyal support of the northwest Ohio business community,” said tournament director Judd Silverman. “Today is truly the best day of the Marathon Classic. It’s the pinnacle of all the time and effort and generosity of so many people and organizations that made this tournament happen again for the 31st time.”
