University of Michigan offensive lineman David Molk was presented with the Rimington Trophy as the nation's top center Thursday at the ESPNU Home Depot college football awards show in Orlando, Fla.
Molk becomes the second UM player to win the Rimington Trophy. David Baas shared the award in 2004.
"I am truly humbled to be the Rimington Trophy recipient," Molk said. "It's such an honor considering all of the great centers around the country, including the other finalists. It's an individual award, but it's a credit to our offensive line, our team, and our coaching staff. I'm proud to represent the University of Michigan."
The official Rimington Trophy presentation will be held Jan. 14 in Lincoln, Neb.
The other finalists for the award were Alabama's William Vlachos, Clemson's Dalton Freeman, Georgia's Ben Jones, Oklahoma State's Grant Garner, and Wisconsin's Peter Konz.
Baylor's Robert Griffin III won the Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's top quarterback.
He beat out Stanford's Andrew Luck, Boise State's Kellen Moore, and Houston's Case Keenum were the other finalists.
A Big 12 quarterback has won the Davey O'Brien in seven of the last 11 sevens.
And the top defensive award went to LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, who won the Chuck Bednarik Award as the nation's top college defensive player.
Alabama linebacker Dont'a Hightower and Penn State defensive tackle Devon Still were the other finalists.
Mathieu is a Heisman Trophy finalist and the second consecutive LSU player to win the Bednarik, joining cornerback Patrick Peterson.
