DETROIT — A former movie theater that became a well-known music venue on Detroit’s east side is expected to be torn down.
MLive.com reports that a $288,000 contract has been awarded to demolish the Eastown Theatre, which was heavily damaged by fire and people seeking scrap metal.
The movie theater was converted into a music venue in the 1960s. It later was used as an adult movie theater, a performing arts center and a church.
