When Mirabel was found wandering the country roads of eastern Kentucky, the little dog was in bad shape. She was covered in fleas and ticks, her toe nails were embedded in her paws, and she had mammary tumors from over-breeding.

But perhaps most notably, Mirabel was missing her nose.
Now after a road to recovery which took a few months at a rescue in Lexington, Kentucky, she is using the distinguishing physical characteristic that kept most families away to her advantage. Mirabel was adopted and brought to Toledo two months ago by Kelli Shook, a Certified Youth and Parent Life Coach and administrator with Bullfrogs Against Bullying.
The little dog who was used up and abandoned by backyard breeders now serves a greater purpose, as a therapy assistant dog for kids and families going through difficult times.
