Glenn Watkins, music historian, will speak on Proof through the Night: Music, Art, and the Great War, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in the Little Theater of the Toledo Museum of Art. He’ll talk about the music of World War I and its relationships to visual art and international politics.
Also at the museum, a tour called Who Gets to Call This Art? will be at 1 p.m. Saturday for people who have mild memory loss and their caregivers.

Arts and crafts will be on tap in Point Place Saturday at various locations including Art Walk at the Lighthouse on Summit Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friendship Park Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2930 131st St., and Lighthouse Landing, with a $2 admission fee, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4441 N. ● Raised on Lead Pain(t) will show new large-scale paintings and mixed-media sculpture by Josh Byers. A reception, with music by Dooley Wilson and Mr. John Roundcity, will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in Bozarts Gallery, 151 S. St. Clair St., #104. Information: 419-464-5785.
● A reception from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday will feature Mark and Michael Kersey and their large, colorful paintings displayed at Bluffton University’s Grace Albrecht Gallery in Bluffton. A Brush with Fantasy: The Paintings of Mr. Atomic will continue through Oct. 25. Mr. Atomic is the pseudonym for the Kersey twins, whose studios are in Common Space in Toledo. ● A reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday kicks off the opening of Overture III and celebrates the second anniversary of LeSo Gallery, 1527 Starr Ave. This show has 2-D and 3-D pieces by 40 artists. Saturday’s party also will feature live painting by muralist Chad Watt and music by ADJ•ective. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. ● An 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday reception in Downtown Latte will be for David Lymanstall and his Prints, Journals & Drawings, work in colored pencil, watercolor, and woodcut. “I will often trace a drawing from a journal onto Japanese plywood that is then carved, inked, and printed. I enjoy seeing the same objects represented in these two different art forms,” says Lymanstall, who maintains a daily art journal. It will continue through Oct. 30. The cafe is at 44 S. St. Clair St.

Speaking at 2:30 p.m. Monday will be Tara Polansky of Columbus, who creates with prints, photographs, and porcelain. Her free talk will be in the Haigh Auditorium in the University of Toledo’s Center for the Visual Arts adjacent to the Toledo Museum of Art.
At 4:30 p.m., she’ll give a guided tour of her work on view at the Blair Museum of Lithophanes in Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr. And from 6 to 8 p.m., Polansky will demonstrate how she works, in the ceramics studio of the museum’s Glass Crafts building.

Call for artists: The Findlay Art League is accepting original work completed within the last four years for its annual juried show. Entries should be taken to the league’s gallery, 117 W. Crawford St., Findlay, 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 23 or 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 25.
