Metroparks of the Toledo Area kicks off the unofficial arrival of summer by offering opportunities to develop outdoor skills with trained instructors in a festival setting at the second annual Outdoor Adventure Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Side Cut Metropark in Maumee.
A climbing wall and a zipline have been added to this year's activities. Participants in the free event can also try fishing, fire building, canoeing, kayaking, camping, archery, geocaching, and more.
The Expo has something for the armchair adventurer as well as seasoned outdoor enthusiasts, and for all ages. Food, music, and outdoor industry exhibitors will be set up at the Silver Lake Area of the park.

■The 4th Annual Maple & Main Art Fair will be from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday along Main Street in downtown Sylvania (between Monroe and Erie streets).
The event features fine art, music, and food in historic downtown Sylvania. More than 100 artists and musicians will be taking part in the 4th Annual Maple & Main Street Art Fair lining Main Street, from Monroe to Erie streets.
Artist booths will be filled with a variety of art, jewelry, pottery, and more along with a great line up of local musicians — taking to one of two open air stages. Numerous local food vendors will be serving up a variety of dishes along with beer and wine sales.
A special children’s area will be set up with activities, games, and more for children.

■FREMONT — As genealogists use the website “Ancestry.com” to not only research their families, but to create, store, and share their family tree, the Hayes Presidential Center is offering a program to help guide you through the process of building a genealogy online with Ancestry.com.
Making a Family Tree on Ancestry.com class will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday. Instructors are Hayes Head Librarian Becky Hill and Dustin Austin. Preregistration is required by calling 419-332-2081, ext. 231, or email bhill@rbhayes.org.
This program covers how to begin, how to import data from other genealogy software programs, and the pros and cons of using Ancestry.com.
