A gang sweep netted 55 arrests in the city Thursday, said Toledo police Lt. Brad Weis.
The multi-agency sweep — including representatives of the FBI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms; the Border Patrol; the Immigration and Customs Enforcement division; the Parole Authority; and Toledo Police — took more than 8 hours.
Police recovered two handguns, one shot gun, and approximately $20,000 in drugs, Lieutenant Weis said.
Several of the people arrested were picked up on federal gun charges and others were released at the scene.
“We try to do several of these a year when there’s an increase in gang violence,” Lieutenant Weis said.
