A teenager who was swimming at the Days Inn pool, 1800 Miami St. in East Toledo, died of an apparent drowning Saturday evening, Toledo police said.

Witnesses said the boy, 16, jumped into the pool and went to the bottom. After coming to the surface, he went to the bottom again, the police report said.

One of the witnesses jumped into the pool to bring the teen to the surface.

Toledo police arrived shortly after the 7:43 p.m. 911 call and began performing CPR.

A rescue squad took the teen to Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, where he was pronounced dead at 8:47 p.m.

The youth's identity was not immediately available. Police said there was no indication of horseplay before the incident.
