Bond was set at $1 million Wednesday for a 21-year-old man who was arrested and accused of breaking into a central Toledo home and raping a woman, authorities said.
Shawn Rowlett, of 1661 Fernwood Ave., was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court on one count each of rape and aggravated burglary. He was ordered held in the Lucas County jail pending preliminary hearing April 4, without an option to post 10 percent of the bond and be released from jail, according to court records.
He allegedly kicked in the front door at the woman’s Hidden Valley Drive home shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday and forced the victim into the back bedroom, where he took her clothes off and then sexually assaulted her, Toledo police said.
The suspect allegedly fled upon hearing approaching police crews. He was arrested shortly after 11 p.m. in the 5300 block of Hill Avenue in South Toledo, about 6 miles away, police said.
