Toledo woman accused of assaulting friend with tiki torch

A 26-year-old Toledo woman accused of beating a friend with a tiki torch on the street in a dispute over a man was booked into the Lucas County jail this morning on a charge of felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

Shanisa Ellison is accused of assaulting Marquita Jackson, 29, in the 1300 block of North Michigan Street about 12:40 a.m., according to Toledo police.

Ms. Jackson suffered injuries to the head and upper torso that were not thought to be life-threatening, according to Toledo police.

Alcohol was thought to play a role in the incident, according to police.

Ms. Ellison's initial appearance in Toledo Municipal Court in the incident is set for Monday morning.
