2 men wounded in separate shootings near UT, Toledo Hospital

Toledo police are investigating two shootings this morning, both minutes away from Toledo Hospital and the University of Toledo.

In the first case, an unidentified man entered a business at Byrne Road at Dorr Street about 3:45 a.m. and told a clerk he had been shot. He then walked out of the store. Police and Toledo paramedics arriving on the scene were told the wounded man was taken to Toledo Hospital by a motorist driving what was described as a white Dodge Durango.

Crews are at Toledo Hospital investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Police searching for evidence at the shooting scene said they found a spent cartridge casing.

While investigating the first shooting, a second gunshot victim was brought to the hospital about 25 minutes later. Identified only as an 18-year-old male, police said he was shot at Auburn Avenue near Ottawa Drive. Again, officers processing the second crime scene found spent casings.
