Architect dies following Thursday crash in Maumee

The husband of a woman killed in a two-car crash on the Anthony Wayne Trail at Monclova Road in Maumee has died.

Maumee architect Huber H. Buehrer, 87, died Sunday afternoon. Charline Buehrer, 84, of Maumee was pronounced dead at the scene Thursday evening. Mr. Buehrer, who was driving their car, had been taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, as was the driver of the other car, Tara Rison, 38, of Waterville.

According to Maumee Police, Mr. Buehrer was westbound on the Trail, which also is known as U.S. 24, about 7:45 p.m. when he turned left onto Monclova Road, which also is known as Old Trail Road, and collided with Ms. Rison’s vehicle, which was heading east on U.S. 24.

The Buehrers live on Old Trail Road, and police surmised they were on their way home when the crash occurred.

Mr. Buehrer was wearing a seat belt, although it did not appear that either Mrs. Buehrer or Ms. Rison were wearing seatbelts, Maumee police said.

Mr. Buehrer was the long-time president of the Buehrer Group Architecture & Engineering in Maumee.
