Man injured in motorcycle crash in South Toledo

A Toledo man was seriously injured when a motorcycle he was driving and a sport-utility vehicle collided in South Toledo early today, authorities said.

Larelle Mack, 31, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with a broken leg and internal injuries, according to Toledo police. He was listed in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.

The victim was driving west on Western Avenue approaching Canal Avenue about 10:45 p.m. when the SUV driven by Brandon Gill, 20, also of Toledo, pulled from a stop sign and into the path of the Mack motorcycle, police said in a written statement.

Mr. Gill and his passengers, Chad Friess, 29, and Paul Andrews, 17, also of Toledo, as well as another motorcyclist, who was driving along with the victim and was able to avoid crashing into the SUV, were not injured in the crash, according to police. The name of the other motorcyclist was not released.

There was no word of citations. The crash remains under investigation.
