FOSTORIA — Two people were injured when a car and a motorcycle collided head-on on U.S. 23 near Fostoria, authorities said.
Richard Vance II, 47, of Fostoria, who was driving the motorcycle, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with “incapacitating” injuries, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Fremont post. He was listed in fair condition, a hospital spokesman said today.
Isabel Pichardo, 17, also of Fostoria, who was driving the car, was taken to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital with “non-incapacitating” injuries, according to the patrol. She has been treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Young Pichardo was driving south on the highway just north of Seneca County Road 6 about 4:30 p.m. Friday when for unknown reasons her car drove left of center and struck the northbound motorcycle head-on, a patrol dispatcher in Fremont said. The impact threw Mr. Vance on the ground on the east side of the highway while the car came to rest in a ditch, according to the patrol.
Young Pichardo wore a seat belt while Mr. Vance did not wear a helmet, according to the patrol.
Alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash, the dispatcher said. The crash remains under investigation.
The crash occurred about nine miles south of Fostoria, which straddles Hancock, Seneca, Wood counties about 35 miles southeast of Toledo.
