Fire damages Maumee home, destroys garage

Fire damages Maumee home, destroys garage

2 residents escape unhurt from Wednesday night blaze

A garage fire of a yet unknown origin has damaged a house in Maumee, authorities said.

Maumee Fire Chief Brandon Loboschefski said two residents had escaped unhurt by the time crews arrived about 10:12 p.m. Wednesday and saw the garage at 1142 Rosedale Street completely engulfed in flames, with flames also coming from the house.

Firefighters attacked the blaze and brought it under control in 20 minutes, Chief Loboschefski said.

The unattached garage was a complete loss. The two-story wood frame house sustained “moderate” damage, the fire chief said.

A damage estimate was unavailable. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Lucas County records list Betty Crosby as the owner of the house. It was built in 1959.
