Seven Toledo police officers promoted to rank of sergeant

The Toledo Police Department this morning promoted seven of its officers to the rank of sergeant.

Sgts. Scott Williamson, 37; Jeremy Carey, 45; Matthew Slaman, 33; Michael Anthony Smith Jr., 31; Lourdes Rocha, 38; Thomas Reinhart III, 27; and Brianne Holmes, 34; were all honored for their commitment to the department. The ceremony took place before a capacity crowd in City Council chambers.

Chief George Kral said the rank of sergeant, which oversees patrol officers, is the most critical and important in the organization.

“This is a challenging job, but you've all shown me that you are well prepared, and I have no worries whatsoever,” Chief Kral said.
