MONROE -- Search crews found the body of an Inkster, Mich., man who went missing while camping with family Oct. 25.
Crews discovered the body of Stanley Moore, 53, around 5 p.m. today in Lake Ere, about 100 feet from the shore in Sterling State Park, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.
His body was in about 4 feet of water and was discovered with the help of a coastline search by a sheriff’s office helicopter today, a statement from the office said..
Mr. Moore was last seen around 3 a.m. on Oct. 25 walking toward the water after telling family with whom he was camping that he was going fishing.
The sheriff’s office was assisted in recovering the body by the Frenchtown Fire Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Sterling State Park Ranger Division of the Department of Natural Resources.
Mr. Moore’s body was taken to the Wayne County medical examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be performed, the sheriff’s office said.
