Man dies after being struck with his own truck

A man died after he was struck by his own pickup truck in South Toledo as it was being taken, police said.

Police were sent to the 3900 block of Airport Highway about 4:50 p.m. because a white pickup truck had hit a man there.

The man, Scott Witkowski, 52, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital. He later died at UTMC.

Police said a man drove off in the truck -- Mr. Witkowsk’s work vehicle -- before officers arrived on scene.

The truck was found unoccupied at Junction Avenue and Blum Street.
