Bus gets stuck in sinkhole

About eight students were evacuated from a school bus Wednesday after the vehicle struck a sinkhole in North Toledo, police said.

The Washington Local School district bus was transporting special education students following classes at Whitmer High School. A front tire became lodged in the sinkhole about 2:45 p.m. on Ketukkee Trail near Mayport Drive, said district spokesman Wendy Farran.

The sinkhole was a couple feet deep and in the center of the road. Police said the driver felt the road shifting shortly before becoming stuck.

A water main break at the location was spewing water onto the road, police said.
