2 firefighters injured fighting central Toledo blaze

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a fire early today in central Toledo.

Crews were dispatched at 3:32 a.m. to a vacant house on fire in the 2600 block of Lawrence Avenue. Ceiling debris struck one firefighter in the shoulder and the other around the neck, Toledo fire Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld said.

They were taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and have since been released, he said.

The house was demolished and was an estimated $58,000 loss. The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
