A man accidentally shot himself early today at a residence in West Toledo, authorities said.

The victim was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, according to the Lucas County EMS. Toledo police Lt. Joe Heffernan, a department spokesman, said the man was expected to survive. The victim’s name and condition were not released.

Toledo police said the man was unloading a gun at his residence in in the 4800 block of Rambo Lane about 7:20 a.m., at which time he accidentally shot himself. Police released no further details.
