Motorcyclist dies in collision in Jerusalem Township

Incident involved pickup truck, motorcycle on State Rt. 2

An Oregon motorcyclist was struck head on by a pickup truck and killed Friday in Jerusalem Township, troopers at the Toledo post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Pronounced dead at the scene was Damian Marcinek, 27. He was eastbound on State Rt. 2 near Decant Road just before 4 p.m. when the westbound pickup driven by Patrick Harrison, Jr., 52, of Oregon, crossed left of center.

Mr. Marcinek was thrown to the road. He was not wearing a helmet.

The pickup drove off the south side of the road and hit a utility pole. Mr. Harrison, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital in Oregon with apparent minor injuries, troopers said. A hospital spokesman had no information about a patient by that name.

Route 2 was closed in both directions for several hours.

The crash is under investigation.
