Toledo police announce charges, warrants in September homicides

Two suspects remain at large

Today, Toledo Police announced charges and warrants in four September homicide cases.

Lawrenczel Taylor, 19, already in custody in the Lucas County jail on an unrelated robbery charge, was charged with murder for the slaying of Corey Bowman, Jr., 22, who was shot on the morning of Sept. 10 in the 200 block of East Hudson Street. Mr. Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators they heard a pop when a car pulled alongside a vehicle that Mr. Bowman was in. The victim, known to friends and family members as CJ, was found lying on the sidewalk.

Marcus Harris, 24, was charged with aggravated murder for the slaying of Daniel Drake, 20, who was shot in the head Sept. 22 at 905 Hamilton St.

With the assistance of U.S. marshals, Harris was arrested Friday afternoon in the 2700 block of Tremainsville Road. He has been booked into the Lucas County jail.

A murder warrant has been issued against Darnell Walker, 26, for the slaying of Bobby Gittens, 28, who was shot Sept. 17 at 616 Highland Ave. Gittens was treated at the scene and transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, but later died there.

Police approaching the scene stopped a vehicle leaving the area and found Gittens, a passenger, with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

Walker remains at large. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stopper at 419-245-1111.

A murder warrant also has been issued against Devantee Osley, 22, for the slaying of Ronald Goodlow, 31, who was shot Sept. 28 at 554 Austin St.

He was transported him to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Osley also remains at large. Police also ask anyone with information in that case to call Crime Stopper at 419-245-1111.

The charges were filed and warrants issued following a meeting Friday between the police department’s investigative services bureau and the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office.
