The man who suffered extensive burns in an East Toledo building fire Friday has died.
Booker Boose, 67, was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, where he died at 3:52 p.m. today. An autopsy is to be performed Monday, said Dr. Diane Barnett, the Lucas County chief deputy coroner.
The blaze was reported about 10:20 p.m. Friday in a two-story, four-unit apartment building in the 1900 block of Bakewell Street, said Toledo Fire Department spokesman Pvt. Sterling Rahe.
Of the four units, three were occupied and one was vacant, though Private Rahe said he was unsure if anyone other than the man was in the building at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire was under investigation Saturday.
The building is a duplex residence constructed in 1915, according to the Lucas County auditor’s website. It has been deemed uninhabitable because of the damage caused by the fire.
