Convicted serial killer dies after assault in Toledo prison cell

Donald Harvey, 64, nicknamed the ‘Angel of Death’

A Cincinnati-area serial killer nicknamed the “Angel of Death” died today after an assault at Toledo Correctional Institution.

Donald Harvey, 64, died at 9:08 a.m., according to a state prison spokesman. The said they continue to investigate.

A report provided by the patrol shows the assault occurred inside his cell at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday. Lt. Robert Sellers said authorities have a suspect.

Harvey pleaded guilty in 1987 to 37 murders while serving as a nurse’s aide at hospitals in Cincinnati and London, Ky. Harvey said he did so to stop patients’ suffering.

Charges expected in 2017 Toledo prison killing of 'Angel of Death'

Prison records show he was serving a life sentence and was eligible for parole in 2043.
