Autopsy finds killer died from blunt head trauma

An autopsy Friday determined serial killer Donald Harvey died from blunt head trauma during an attack at Toledo Correctional Institution.

Harvey, 64, suffered massive head trauma, including multiple breaks to his skull and brain injuries. There were no signs a weapon was used to cause the injuries, Deputy Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Hudson said.

Authorities said it appears another inmate attacked Harvey inside his cell Tuesday. He died Thursday at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center. No charges have yet been filed. A spokesman for the Ohio Highway Patrol, which is investigating the death, declined comment.
