One killed in crash on Ohio Turnpike

Westbound lanes closed near Williams County Road 16

HOLIDAY CITY, Ohio – One motorist is dead and the Ohio Turnpike’s westbound lanes were closed this afternoon because of a crash.

Troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Swanton post report the fatal crash occurred about 11:39 a.m. near Williams County Road 16.

Officials said Bruce Wichenbach, 68, of Waldoboro, Maine, was killed when his westbound tractor-trailer went off the right side of the road and struck another truck parked on the shoulder, then hit a guardrail and overturned.

As of 3:40 p.m., officials said the turnpike’s westbound lanes have reopened.
