SANDUSKY — Area emergency crews Monday extinguished a fire that destroyed two motor boats at Cedar Point Marina, authorities said.

There were no injuries, according to the Sandusky Fire Department.

A dispatcher at the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said the explosion, apparently on a boat, was reported at 4:13 p.m.

It took fire crews between 20 and 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, by which time the boat where the fire started and another next to it were a total loss, a fire department spokesman said. There was no one on board, he said.

The damage estimate was not available.
