Authorities arrested a man Wednesday in the fatal stabbing of another last month in East Toledo.

Melvin Harris, 54, of the 1200 block of Halstead Street, is charged with murder in the killing of Richard “Ricardo” Jimenez, 82. Toledo police said evidence at the scene linked Harris to the death.

Mr. Jimenez suffered seven stab wounds to his left chest. He was found dead Aug. 4 at his residence in the 900 block of East Broadway Street.

A police spokesman said he could not comment on a motive in the case.
