Autopsy complete in woman found dead in Lucas County Jail

An autopsy for the woman who died while in custody of the Lucas County Jail determined she suffered complications of hanging by her neck.

The coroner's office conducted an autopsy Tuesday for Lisa McCray, 43, of Hilliard, Ohio. Jail officials said her death was self-inflicted with a phone cord.

The autopsy did not declare a ruling of suicide or other means, as toxicology results and the investigation remain pending.

Ms. McCray was pronounced dead at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center.

Toledo police said they arrested an intoxicated Ms. McCray for disorderly conduct late Thursday at Hollywood Casino Toledo. Ms. McCray harmed herself about 90 seconds after a conversation with a corrections officer. She was found unresponsive about 4 a.m. Friday.

Sheriff John Tharp has said officers acted as they were supposed to and properly monitored Ms. McCray.
