LYONS, Ohio — A driver was killed and his passenger was seriously injured Friday in Fulton County’s Royalton Township when their car drove off U.S. 20 near County Road 12, hit a ditch, and continued into a field, said troopers at the Toledo post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The driver, Zackary James Floyd, 18, of Lyons, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Jesse Julian Navarro, Jr., 18, of Delta, Ohio, was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital with serious injuries, troopers said. A hospital spokesman said he was treated and released. 

The car was eastbound on U.S. 20 about 7 p.m. when it left the south edge of the roadway, troopers said. Neither driver nor passenger wore seat belts.

Lyons is about 30 miles west of Toledo.
