CARLETON, Mich. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s office has identified the remains of a 56-year-old resident found in the basement of a house that was destroyed Wednesday by a fire.

Sheriff Dale Malone announced the body of Humberto Reyna Jr. was found at a home in the 14000 block of Exeter Road.

When firefighters in Monroe County’s Ash Township arrived Wednesday, the house was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to enter the building after the blaze was out and located the remains, deputies said.

Ash Township, in northern Monroe County, is about 30 miles northeast of Toledo.
