Two Toledo parents charged with endangering children

Two Toledo parents charged with endangering children

Parents of an 8-week-old boy are each facing a felony charge after police say the child was abused Wednesday while under his father’s care, according to documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

Sabrina Robertson, 22, and Deonte Lee, 22, both of the 120 block of Ravine Park Village, are charged with endangering children, which are felony offenses. The infant was not to be left unsupervised with the father, according to a safety plan established last month by the Lucas County Children Services agency.

Mr. Lee is accused of abusing the child Wednesday at a residence in the 3300 block of Blackstone Drive in North Toledo, court documents show.

The baby was taken by private vehicle to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries, police said.

The infant had a head fracture, as well as additional fractures to his body, according to a police report.

Ms. Robertson is facing an endangering children charged because police believe she left the child unsupervised with Mr. Lee, which violated the Lucas County Children Services’ safety plan, court documents show.

The safety plan was established after the baby was injured in March and taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, according to a police report.

Police were called to the hospital after a nurse observed bruising on each of the baby’s arms, a large bruise on his buttocks, and redness under his eyes, the report showed.

No charges were filed in the March incident because there was not clear evidence of foul play, Toledo Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevan Toney said.

Both Mr. Lee and Ms. Robertson were arrested Thursday by Toledo police stemming from the most recent incident and booked in the Lucas County jail.

They both appeared Friday in Toledo Municipal Court where bond was set for each at $500,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 27.
