GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump flew into Toledo Express Airport Wednesday night in his personalized Boeing 757.
The plane, which could be seen in the air over downtown Toledo, landed about a half hour before his scheduled speech in downtown Toledo. His arrival, though, was not open to the public.
Although they didn’t have direct access to the plane, a group of about a dozen supporters stood on an airport service driveway in hopes of catching a glimpse of the candidate.
Many waved flags and signs.
“He’s our man,” said Dan Flahie of Sylvania Township, who was at the airport. “The corruption in Washington is just way out of control. And we need a man there who has made a payroll.”
Rosendo Gomez of Wauseon said he likes that Mr. Trump tells it the way it is.
“I like his ideas. Sometimes I don’t like his comments,” he said.
Mr. Trump was whisked into a caravan of cars that traveled to the Ohio Turnpike and onto I-75 to access the downtown. Many roads along the route were temporarily blocked off to motorists.
The plane he flew on is Trump Force One, which is worth $100 million.
It has a gourmet kitchen, home theater, and two bedrooms complete with a shower.
Mr. Trump had owned a Boeing 727 before upgrading.
The plane, with the tail number N757AF, was pulled from real-time tracking websites because of security concerns.
