Hillary Clinton is expected to make an economic speech in Toledo today.
She is scheduled to speak at 1:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr., Plaza, 415 Emerald Ave., downtown.
The Toledo event is the first of two Ohio campaign stops for the Democratic presidential nominee today. She’s scheduled to appear in Akron later in the afternoon.
Those wishing to hear Mrs. Clinton can begin arriving at 11 a.m., her campaign staff said.
She is expected to speak on the economy and urge Ohioans to register to vote and get ready to vote early. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 11 and early voting in Ohio begins Oct. 12.
According to her campaign, Mrs. Clinton will call out firms such as Wells Fargo, which secretly opened up millions of accounts for customers without their consent; Mylan Pharmaceuticals, which raised the price of life-saving EpiPens; and the practices of Donald Trump and the Trump Organization.
She is expected to highlight tools she wants to use to take on bad corporate actors.
For example, she will outline her proposals to ensure that the tax code doesn't let corporations and the super-wealthy play by a different set of rules than everyone else, her campaign said.
She will highlight her proposals to reward good corporate citizens by offering incentives for profit-sharing and encouraging companies to offer work force training, her campaign said.
She will explain how steps such as raising the minimum wage and paid family leave will make it easier for companies to treat workers well without being caught in a race to the bottom with cost-cutting competitors.
